Recent Drawings by David Holleman
Monday May 1, 2017
9:00 AM until 5:00 PM
An exhibit, RECENT DRAWINGS by noted Lexington artist DAVID HOLLEMAN, will be held at Cary Memorial Library, Lexington, MA from May 1 to June 30, 2017. The exhibit can be viewed during regular library hours. An opening reception, open to the public, will be held May 6 from 2:00 to 4:45 pm.
Holleman’s works are owned, among others, by the National Gallery in D.C. and the Jewish Museum in New York. His mural of the Aztec Calendar Stone, under the Foucault Pendulum, is a permanent display at Boston’s Science Museum.
RECENT DRAWINGS, selected from the hundreds of drawings David has done in the last ten years, reveals the breadth of his interest to capture the essence of being: sometimes with wit and humor and sometimes with pathos, always from his vast knowledge and wisdom. The colors are so rich and the compositions so complex that it is hard to remember they are “only” drawings, not paintings.
