Living History: The Lexington Branch, from Railway to Bikeway
Wednesday September 5, 2018
A brief illustrated history of the Lexington and West Cambridge Branch Railroad: its conception, birth, heydey, decline, death, and finally its rebirth as the Minuteman Commuter Bikeway, our nation's 500th rail-trail and inspiration for many other rail-trails in the region. Featuring Sam Doran, local historian and B&M Railroad buff; and Tom Fortmann, local cyclist and co-founder of the Minuteman Bikeway.
This is a historical presentation with refreshments, to take place in the old railway depot building, 13 Depot Square, Lexington. Presented as part of the bikeway's 25th anniversary celebration (bikeway25.org). Sponsored by the Friends of Lexington Bikeways and the Lexington Historical Society.
Location: Lexington Depot
