Poetry Open Mic Night
Tuesday May 30, 2017
6:00 PM until 7:30 PM
The library hosts a monthly poetry series with an open mic. Each month there will be a featured poet followed by a discussion, an open mic and light refreshments. Lainie Senechal, Amesbury Poet Laureate, hosts this event.
This months featured poet is Amesbury poet and artist, Muriel Angelil. Muriel has written poetry, children’s stories and technical articles in Art Therapy journals. Her journey as a poet was launched in 2013 when she joined the Open Mic group in Newburyport, MA. Her book entitled: “In Close Embrace”, includes seventy poems on family, travel, relationships, dance, art and her experiences as a young girl growing up in Alexandria, Egypt. Muriel Angelil illustrates the book with artwork and the title is a quote from Argentine Tango which she engaged in for ten years. She has also published a memoir entitled: “Back to the Past, A Daughter of the Nile”. Muriel Angelil has created an eBook with the help of Peter Fulton in which she reads her poems and is accompanied by music and illustrated by her art. The eBook can be seen on her website: murielangelil.com.
No sign up is required, however, space may be limited.
This will be the final meeting of the Poetry Open Mic until the fall.
