Edwardian Clothes Encounter
Friday January 5, 2018
10:30 AM until 11:30 AM
Hold a garment sewn around the Civil War era! Try on a military hat from the 1880s! Historian Sally Cragin talks about the history of fashion, as well as “what was appropriate” for certain genders and classes from about 1850 through the Jazz Age and beyond. See shoes, wool and cotton undergarments, and uniforms for shop girls, waitresses & housewives. The audience is allowed to handle, and try on, some select items. Free and open to the public, bring along a friend.
