YA Sewing Workshop
Tuesday April 17, 2018
11:00 AM until 1:30 PM
Learn to sew a 9 square pillow. Workshop will include tutorial of how to thread and operate the sewing machines in the Makerspace. Once you complete the workshop, you will be considered "certified" on the sewing machines and will be free to use them anytime the room is opened (unless a sewing workshop is going on).
You will learn some basic sewing techniques such as straight stitching and how to line up quilt blocks so that the corners match. You will also be shown some easy ways of stuffing a pillow with fiberfil and closing up the opening. The pillow you create will be yours to take home.
Class is open to people 10-17 years old. There will be a limit of 6 spots available therefore registration is required.
The number of participants are limited to the number of sewing machine we have in the makerspace. If you would like to bring your own sewing machine, email Diane at firstname.lastname@example.org so that we can open the workshop up to more people.
Snacks will be served.
Makerspace Waiver and Room Agreement forms must be completed by a legal guardian prior to workshop. Forms are available at the circulation desk.
Also, please be considerate to others, if you register and can not attend, please call or email the library to cancel your spot so that it can be past on to another person.
