Tuesday Night at the Movies: Loving
Tuesday February 20, 2018
6:30 PM until 8:30 PM
There will be a free screening this evening of the inspiring film, "Loving".
In 1958, in the state of Virginia, the idea of interracial marriage was not only considered to be immoral to many, it was also illegal. When Richard (Joel Edgerton) and Mildred (Ruth Negga) fall in love, they are aware of the eyes staring at them and the words said behind their backs. It is when they get married, however, that words and looks become actions, and the two are arrested. The couple decide to take their case all the way to the Supreme Court in order to fight for their love in this passionate and gripping drama that critics have called "a masterpiece." This true story is one not to be missed if you have not seen it. It is rated PG-13 for "thematic elements" so may not be suitable for young children. The running time is 2 hours and 3 minutes, and this program is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by the Friends of the Milton Public Library.
Location: Keys Community Room
