Wotiz Gallery Exhibit: Paintings by Artist David Dauer
Monday April 2, 2018
There will be an exhibit during the month of April in the Wotiz Gallery of paintings by local artist David Dauer. In early 2016, after over 30 years in the publishing and advertising fields as a designer, art director and creative head, Mr. Dauer decided to go back to his first love: fine arts. He started drawing at an early age and that led him to numerous years of discovery and education. He has a BFA from UMass Dartmouth and an MFA from Kent State University in Painting, with extensive study in Printmaking, Photography and Art History, with continued studies in Design at Umass Dartmouth which led him to his 30-plus year career in the publishing industry. He has shown work in many locations in the Northeast and Ohio, most recently at Colo Colo Gallery in New Bedford, Sotheby’s in Jamaica Plain and The Wall Gallery in Norwood. David is part of the Switch Co-op Gallery in Hyde Park and is a member of both the Milton Art Center and Hyde Park Art Association. He is also part of the TECM Artist's Collaborative, a private group of artist professions. More information may be found on his website at dbdauerstudio.com or his Facebook, Twitter or Instagram pages under dbdauerstudio The work to be seen in this display are acrylic paintings and small water based marker drawings. The work emanates from current world events and religious readings through a surrealistic model. Dauer's paintings utilize vibrant color, texture, and overlays of color wash.
There will be a free and open reception in the Wotiz Gallery for this exhibit on April 5th from 5:30 - 8:15 PM. As part of the reception, there will also be an artist talk by Mr. Dauer starting at 6:30 PM in the East Reading Room (periodicals room) which adjoins the gallery. Please note that in honor of his longtime friend, Herbert Voigt, who passed away recently, David will be donating 30% of any sales from this show to the Library. Herb was a trustee of the Milton Public Library and a professor at Boston University. Please come and view this lovely display and meet the artist during the month of April.
