Tuesday March 8, 2016
10:00 AM until 12:30 PM
This beginner-level overview will introduce the tenets of managing a local history collection. Topics to be covered include: defining the local history collection, keeping the collection safe, and making it accessible to library staff and patrons. We will discuss how to determine the scope of the collection and the various formats it might include. Storage options and organizational schemes will be reviewed, as well as the various tools available to provide access. Funding sources to support this work will be identified. There will be plenty of time for questions, too, to make sure that your specific concerns are addressed.
