Universal Design for Libraries [Milton] - CANCELLED
Thursday March 9, 2017
1:00 PM until 3:00 PM
The Institute for Human-Centered Design (IHCD) says, "Universal Design is a framework for the design of places, things, information, communication and policy to be usable by the widest range of people operating in the widest range of situations without special or separate design. Most simply, Universal Design is human-centered design of everything with everyone in mind.” Please join us for a workshop from Stacy Hart from the Institute for Human-Centered Design on how Universal Design can be used in libraries to better serve our communities, with a focus on space planning and touching upon ADA compliance. Participants will get an overview of the philosophy, in addition to design considerations specific to library spaces. This workshop is open to library staff of all levels. Stacy Hart is an ADA Trainer, Information and Outreach Specialist for IHCD’s New England ADA Center. She sees her work at IHCD as a continuation of making our communities more accessible and inclusive of everyone.
Location: Milton Public Library 426 Canton Ave. Milton, MA 02186
