As a follow up to the recent Delivery Forums, the Massachusetts Library System and Optima Shipping welcome you to an open house at the Optima Sort Facility in North Oxford.  This is an opportunity for library staff to come and see the Sort Site in North Oxford where Optima handles library materials destined for Delivery to and from libraries in the former Central and Western regions.  Optima can accommodate approximately 30 people at once, so please RSVP picking a time slot.  The time slots will be closed on a first come first served basis.  We will hold additional open house(s) if needed.  We have chosen the noon to 3 PM time period because trucks and vans will be returning from picking up materials which will be unloaded and sorted to their destinations.  We expect this will give you a good picture of the daily workflow and the Sort Site environment.  Bear in mind that the Sort Site, like all warehouses, is not air conditioned.  We look forward to seeing you!

Directions to the Sort Site:  Coming from I-90 Exit 10 follow Route 12 to Route 20.  When you come to the set of lights at the Shell Gas Station on your left, the warehouse is up the road about ½ mile on your right. Look for signs that say Boulder Parkway.  Please pull into the driveway and take the driveway straight ahead and slightly uphill.  The warehouse directly in front of you is the Optima Warehouse. Please park in the parking lot right in front of this warehouse (you will see a cheer/dance studio there).  If there is no parking in the front area, then park along the wooded area to the left of the warehouse in a single line.  When you get out of your car walk around to the left side of the warehouse (if you are facing it from the road) and you will see the Optima door. We will have signs marking the way and personnel to help direct you to parking as it could get tight.
