Colonial Toys & Games
Wednesday August 3, 2016
6:30 PM until 7:30 PM
In 1744, John Newbery published “A Little Pretty Pocket-Book,” one of the world’s first children’s books. Newbery believed that physical activity and games should be rewards for good behavior, and could improve the health and intellect of every boy and girl. During this program, presented by Colonial Pennsylvania Plantation, children ages 7-12 will learn about the history of toys and games in America (did you know that Newbery was the first to write about “base-ball”?) and will be able to play with toys like Jacob’s ladders, whizzers and Graces. Children will get to make a colonial toy of their very own to take home. Adults are welcome.
This program is made possible thanks to the generous sponsorship of Subaru of America! Thank you!
