Description: The effects of trauma are cumulative. How can we set up our classrooms and our schools to accommodate the growing number of children whose brains have been impacted by persistent trauma (homelessness, neglect, parental absence, abuse, witness to violence) in order to assure that we can help them to reach their academic potential? This workshop will use current literature on the impact of trauma on learning as well as review current models utilized in schools to address this issue.
Audience: 6-12 Educators, Counselors, School Psychologists, Administrators.
Registration fee: $59 NRC member districts. $69 other districts. Participants receive workshop materials/resources.
Hours/PDPs: 3 hours.
