Presenter: Attorney, Alisia St. Florian. Murphy, Hesse, Toomey & Lehane, LLP
Description: Every year new legislation and interpretations impact schools, including reforms related to public records, special education, gun control, substance abuse, transgender rights, ESSA, and new federal initiatives. Attorney Alisia St. Florian will review the impact of these legislative and policy developments on Massachusetts schools, as well as guidance from state and federal agencies, and forthcoming regulatory changes.
Topics likely to be addressed include: nuts & bolts of due process; search and seizure; what SROs should/shouldn't do; Chapter 150E - labor relations/public employees; union dues; special education law and reporting; new court cases; etc. This list will be updated with other topics requested by the participants.
Audience: K-12 School Building and District Administrators
Registration fee: (expected) $79 NRC member-district staff. $99 Other districts. Includes handout packet & morning refreshments.
