Preservation Society of Pawtucket - Morgan Grefe 'Development of Pawtucket in the 1890s'
Monday September 18, 2017
5:30 PM until 7:30 PM
Rhode Island was in its hey day in the 1890s. An impressive manufacturing base and booming population meant that industrial centers, like Pawtucket, were exciting and dynamic places to live. Rhode Island, one of the wealthiest states in the country, was characterized by its ethnically diverse population and reputation as engine for innovation. Please join the Rhode Island Historical Society's Executive Director, Dr. C. Morgan Grefe, as she discusses how places like Pawtucket grew in this period: what did the city look like? Who lived here? What did they make? And how did the city support this tremendous growth?
