Anne B. Wagner will present a 3-session genealogy course that targets beginners who wonder how to get started researching their families; those who began their search but need guidance to continue; and those who want a refresher class. Enrollment is limited to 10 participants. Pencils and pens and paper or notebooks are required in class. Laptops and other devices are optional and may prove helpful in note taking. Handouts will include samples of completed family group sheets and pedigree charts to accompany blank forms for participants' homework, a bibliography, and a list of other resources.
Session 1: This session presents examples and conventions for recording information, and ways to organize and store findings.
Session 2: This session is devoted to the research process and will include a tour of the library's resources
Session 3: Participants will set a simple goal and write a research plan, group discussion and individual attention to those who need some guidance.
