Talk: Julia Rayberg & Worthy Village
Monday November 13, 2017
6:30 PM until 7:45 PM
Julia Rayberg is a Co-founder of Worthy Village, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a mission to build pathways out of poverty for women and children in Guatemala by providing economic opportunity, healthcare, and education. To do this, partnerships with over 60 skilled women artisans living in the impoverished villages surrounding Lake Atitlan and Totonicapan were established. The artisan partners sell their wares to tourists, but profits are not sufficient enough to pay for basic needs.
Julia graduated from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in December 2015 with a BS in Business Marketing. While traveling to Guatemala in 2013 with a professor, Julia was exposed to extreme poverty, and claims that it changed her life forever.
Free and open to the public.
This program is sponsored by the Friends Division of the Rockland Memorial Library Foundation, Inc., a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization that raises funds to supplement municipal support for library services through membership dues and fundraisers.
