Prose Poetry & Flash Fiction: Complement or Contrast
Friday October 13, 2017
9:30 AM until 11:30 AM
Authors Among Us
Facilitated by Brian Phillip Whalen
This is an event that needed to be rescheduled. Those who signed up for the original dates in July have all been contacted by email and phone and offered the chance to sign up for the new dates. We are now opening registration again since there are a number of spots available.
We have the names of those who said they can make the new dates (Friday, October 6, 13, and 20. from 9:30-11:30 am.); those people do not have to register again.
Please sign up at the Friday, October 6 entry. Or you can call 518.388.4511 to register.
In these sessions for novice or experienced writers, we’ll learn how prose poetry and flash fiction can be juxtaposed to understand these forms. Explore the characteristics and techniques of these genres by reading sample pieces and writing exercises when we meet and at home. For those age 18 and up
A lecturer at the University at Albany, Brian enjoys teaching about the writing techniques of fiction and poetry using an informal approach. His work is influenced by the short prose form and the musical quality of language.
