Concert: Frank Porto Band
Monday July 17, 2017
7:00 PM until 8:00 PM
The Frank Porter Band is often called “a vibrant small band with a big band sound”. It consists of six members covering piano, bass, drums, sax, trumpet and vocals. Led by Edward Bednarski of Stratford, the Library concert will include music from Sinatra to the Jersey Boys, show tunes, the Big Band Era and the Great American Songbook. During the Korean War Edward Bednarski performed with the U.S. Army Band, swing and classical, on the Armed Forces Network in Germany. He studied musical arrangement with Bill Finegan, an arranger for Glen Miller and Tommy Dorsey among other legends. He took over leadership of the Frank Porto Band in 2006 when Porto passed away. Free and open to the public.
