Event: Art History Lecture: Part III: Expressionism

Friday May 26, 2017
10:00 AM until 11:30 AM

Spanning the turn of the 20th century, artists looking to express themselves through art were a pan-European phenomenon. Presenter Olivia Scarpa will look at a variety of Expressionist movements & artists in France & Germany, including Henri Matisse & Les Fauves, Wassily Kandinsky, Franz Marc & der Blaue Reiter, and Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Emil Nolde & Die Brucke.  Anxiety and escapism preceding the First World War will inform our discussions. Olivia Scarpa is an Assistant Professor of Art History at Manchester Community College. She holds a M.A. in the History of Art from Yale University.

Registration is Appreciated.
