Event: The USS Niagara and the Battle of Lake Erie: A Stem to Stern Chat with Edd Hale

Wednesday November 9, 2016
2:00 PM

Join the library for a program that explores the “watery part of the world” and a local ship’s role in one of the biggest naval battles of the War of 1812.

Edd Hale, a volunteer crew member on the US Brig Niagara, will plumb the depths of the ship’s construction, its wartime experiences, and what life was like on board for captain and crew.  He will also talk about the Niagara’s modern reconstruction and its status as the official flagship of the state of Pennsylvania.

So come aboard for a talk that will teach you the ropes of this fascinating chapter of local history!

Refreshments will be served.
