Rocket Search - Event Details
Experience the Great American Solar Eclipse with the whole family. Stop by to watch this amazing solar event on a big screen in the library. Weather permitting, we will have a telescope outside.
Sponsored by Friends of the Zeiss http://www.friendsofthezeiss.org/ The library will have NASA approved eclipse glasses available for program attendees to share and use during the event.
In addition to viewing the eclipse, Mt. Lebanon Middle School student, Josie Dougherty has a lot of creative learning actitivies planned for children. Josie is a 2017 graduate of the NASA Space Academy. She was admitted to the competitive Space Camp through the Girl Scout Destinations Program. She learned a great deal and would like to share the experience with us. Josie will be assisted by library staff and volunteers.
We will be making pastel coronas, eclipse storyboards, paper plate pinhole viewers and a flipbook. Weather permitting we will go outside and see what how the eclipse effects the shadows of leaves.
