Put Your Best Fork Forward: A Talk About Diabetes, Nutrition, and Goals

Diabetes Warnings from A to Z | Augusta Health

Did you know…

·         More than 34 million people in the United States have diabetes, and 1 in 5 of them don’t know they have it.

·         More than 88 million US adults—over a third—have prediabetes, and a majority of them don’t know they have it.

·         Diabetes is the 7th leading cause of death in the United States.

Whether you have diabetes, are unsure about your status, or simply curious about preventive measures, please join the library for a program about fast facts and long-term goals.  Registered Dietitian Carla DeJesus will lead a short and informal chat that will show us the way to make small changes for big results –one forkful at a time!

Ms. DeJesus will review diabetes basics, lessons on carb counting and goal setting, and tutorials on new technology for checking blood glucose.

We want you to put your best fork forward with us for an afternoon dedicated to good nutrition, good food, and good health!

**Healthy refreshments will be provided.**
