The purpose of the Mission and Outreach (M&O) Ministry Team is to respond to God's call to love and care for one another by:
Identifying and validating the gifts of our congregation.
Linking those gifts of money, time and talents to the needs of God's world.
Celebrating and sharing the stories of God's Spirit at work in all people, times and places.
For personal involvement in a UCC Norwell mission project, please refer to the How UCC Norwell Helps and What We Need portion of each listed project. (Please click below)
One of our most successful missions has been support ... financial, spiritual, and physical ... for Dr. Vicky Guzman's mission in El Salvador known as ASAPROSAR. If you'd like to go to El Salvador to help on a construction project, a health clinic, or similar initiative, contact the M&O Ministry Team. Ask any member who's been there, it's one of the most profound, fulfilling vacations you'll ever take.
We support Peter and Xiomara Savage with their mission program in the Dominican Republic, sending work crews as often as possible to assist with various building projects.
Mission and Outreach also supports a number of local organizations including: South Shore Habitat for Humanity, Quincy Crisis Center, Father Bill's/Quincy Interfaith Sheltering Coalition, Brockton Coalition for the Homeless, Wellspring, South Shore ARC, South Shore Women's Center, Robin's Nest, Friendship Home, and the City Mission Society in Boston.
M&O coordinates several mission events such as "Blanket Sunday", when money is collected for blankets which are later distributed to those in need by Church World Services. At Thanksgiving food is gathered and donated to the South End Neighborhood Action Program in Boston. During Christmas, toys and clothes are delivered to the City Mission Society in Boston for distribution to children who may otherwise not receive a gift in celebration of the birth of Jesus.
