One Monday a month at 6:30 pm – Sept. through May (except Dec.)
Help your little one prepare for a lifetime of learning by participating in this innovative program developed by our own Pollock children’s library staff. Children from Hoover, West Creek Hills, East Pennsboro, Shaull, Hampden, Sporting Hill, Washington Heights, Lower Allen and Highland Elementaries are welcome. Future students entering kindergarten in 2012 will do Kindergarten readiness activities, hear stories, have parachute fun, and work with colors, alphabet, sorting, and rhyming words. Kids may meet other future students and make early friendships! Sessions will be on Mon., but moved to Wed. on holiday weeks. Registration starts Aug. 15, with the first session starting September 7.

Every Thursday evening, a trained volunteer will guide a small group of pre-registered patrons through the library. At the end of the tour, each participant will receive a folder full of library information, with contact numbers in case there are even more questions. 2 Saturdays: February 4 & 11 from 1 pm to 3 pm
Learn to knit at the library!  In this 2-part workshop, you will learn how to cast on, knit, purl, bind off, increase and decrease stitches and read a knitting pattern.  You’ll receive one-on-one, hands-on instruction from Rita Gardner, knitting instructor, and will choose a project of your own (dishcloth, hat or scarf) to work on after the classes end. Ages 16 & up, please. Registration begins January 3.  Cost: $5 for 2 classes.
