Sat, Nov 21, 2009 -- Classical Guitarist Kyung Yoo in performance at 3:00 PM

Kyung Yoo will present a free solo classical guitar performance in the Library’s Whiton Meeting Room on November 21 at 3 PM. He will perform Bach BWV 997, BWV 998 and BWV1003. The program is sponsored by the Hingham Public Library and the Boston Classical Guitar Society as part of its “Saturday Sounds Special” series.

Kyung Yoo, a native of Seoul, South Korea, began learning classical guitar at the age of 12. In 1978 he moved to the Boston area to study classical guitar at the New England Conservatory of Music.

Over the years he has studied classical guitar with Robert Sullivan, Neil Anderson and David Leisner and taken master classes with Manuel Barruecco and Virginia Luque.

In 1984, while at New England Conservatory, he won the Conservatory’s Honors Gala Chamber Music Competition and premiered a guitar trio Sori, written for guitar, flute and cello and composed by fellow Korean Byungdong Paik. Kyung Yoo now dedicates himself to the study and performance of the music of J.S. Bach.
