The instructor is certified by the American Red Cross of Rhode Island. This one-day program is designed for 11-15-year-olds. Training will include preventing and managing injuries, how to perform first aid, diapering and feeding techniques, choosing safe toys & games, handling bedtime, interviewing for a sitter job, and other challenges faced by sitters. The cash-only fee is $50, payable upon registration at the Reference desk. Also included in the fee are the Babysitter’s Training Handbook with CD and First Aid Kit. Students should bring their lunch. The library will supply drinks. Class size is limited to fourteen (14) students. No phone registrations. No waiting lists. This hands on class is limited to 15 individuals so register early to secure a place. You can make reservations by visiting the reference desk or by calling 333-2422, ext. 22.

Please be sure to bring the following materials: pruning sheers, floral wire, and greens such as pine, fir branches, holly, boxwood, and/or laurel. The following items are suggestions only: scissors, wire coat hangers (for wreaths), ribbon (wired, velvet, etc.), bittersweet, grape vines, dried flowers, pine cones, and silk flowers.
