In fact, ACT test writing samples show that in 17 of 20 categories, journalism students score higher than non-journalism students.

Join local teachers Nancy Olson and Julianne Eagan for ‘Teaching Journalism Skills’, a substantive workshop for teachers and people working with youth develop critical writing and media literacy skills.

This workshop, which will be interactive, will help you get students started in scholastic journalism. Participants will learn how to use newspapers as a springboard for reading, analyzing, and writing informational text and studying text structure. Participants will come away with journalism lesson plans tied to the Vermont Grade Level Expectations.
