Museum Passes

ATTENTION: Museums are slowly opening. When considering visiting a museum, plan ahead.
Call or email the museum to determine their reservation policy.
If the museum will accept a Library pass, reserve the pass below for the appropriate date. 
Then call the Library, 978-526-7711 to arrange pick up of the pass.

 

  • Choose the date you will visit the destination; click on "Request Pass" button and follow the screen prompts to reserve the pass.
  • The patron who reserved the pass may pick it up at the Library as early as the day before use
  • Patron must bring the Library card on which the pass was reserved in order to check out the pass. Passes can only be checked out to the same person who made the reservation.
  • Single use or coupon passes do NOT need to be returned.
  • Passes in pockets however, need to come back and must be returned to the Manchester-by-the-Sea Public Library by 9 AM the next day after use, regardless of the day of the week.
  • If a reserved pass 2+ days in the future cannot be used, please log in to Museum Passes and click on "My Passes" and cancel the pass.
  • For reservations less than 2 days in the future, please call the Library at 978-526-7711 to have the pass canceled.
     

Monday November 29, 2021

Boston Children’s Museum (BCM) has reopened to the public on Saturdays and Sundays in May; Wednesday through Sunday beginning June 2, 2021. There are two time slots to choose from – 9 AM to 12 PM and 1:30 to 4:30 PM. BCM requires visitors to reserve a timed ticket online. The BCM website has more information or contact the Museum at 617.426.6500. 

The Manchester Public Library offers a discounted coupon to the Museum for Wednesdays and Saturdays only. In order to get a discounted ticket, please follow the instructions below. 

  • Reserve your day to visit the Museum through this program. Pick up your pass from the Library during curbside pickup hours.
  • The discount coupon from the Library allows half-price admission for up to 4 people. Coupon must be presented at the Admissions Desk when you arrive at the Museum. 
  • Go to GET TICKETS on the Museum’s site and click on the arrow next to DISCOUNTED PROGRAM TICKETS. Click on the link to “Select Date/Time for Timed Tickets” and select the date and time you wish to visit the Museum. Complete the transaction. 
  • Contact the Museum directly if you have difficulties purchasing your timed ticket. 
  • Proof of your timed ticket is required. Either bring a printed copy of your ticket or you can show it digitally. 
  • Note that there are a limited number of visit reservations available for each time slot. 
  • All visitors age 2 and over are required to wear a mask.

  1. Reserve the day/time on this reservation system. Pick up the ticket at the Library 24-hours prior to the day of your museums’ visit.
  2. Harvard requires timed reservations. Go to https://harvardartmuseums.org/visit. Entries are timed at 10 a.m., noon, or 2 p.m. Please choose the time you would like to visit and in the “Quantity” field, type “2”. You will be asked to select the type of tickets you are reserving at checkout. You will be reserving a free ticket, Manchester-by-the-Sea Public Library pass which allows for 2 adult admissions. Youth under 18 are free.
  3. Upon successful completion of the reservation process, you will receive a confirmation.
  4. You will need both the Library ticket AND Harvard’s reservation confirmation to gain entrance to the museums. Please use the 32 Quincy Street entrance when arriving.

Peabody Essex Museum (PEM) is open Thursday through Sunday, 10 AM to 5 PM. Timed tickets are required and can be reserved either online at //pem.org/tickets or by phone, 978-542-1511. Once you have the code, you can schedule and purchase your tickets either online or by calling the museum.

1. Go to //zoonewengland.org and click on VISIT tab; select either Franklin Park Zoo or Stone Zoo tickets.
2. Click BUY TICKETS; selected PURCHASE TIMED TICKETS to open up the online store.

4. After the code is added, a calendar screen will display. Options for scheduling your visit to Franklin Park or Stone Zoo will appear. Click on the date of your visit and the time.

The Museum is open Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with final entry at 12:45 p.m. until further notice.
Please reserve your tickets online via the Museum's ticketing portal for $3.00 per person. You then need to reserve a Museum Pass through this reservation system; passes are picked up at the Library. Bring the pass from the Library and present it with its unique enrollment number (or Pass Number) to claim your admission.

Each pass is valid for up to eight (8) adults, seniors or college students or youths with a $3.00 co-pay per person. Children 12 and under are admitted free.

  1. Your Library pass can only be used on the date printed on the pass.
  2. YOU MUST ALSO CALL THE MUSEUM TO RESERVE A TIMED TICKET. Call 617-723-2500 (daily, 9am – 5pm).
  3. Please call at least 1-2 days ahead to reserve your timeslot otherwise the Museum might be fully booked.
  4. After you make your timed reservation with the Museum, they will send you an email confirmation with your reservation time.
  5. Please bring both your library pass confirmation (printed or displayed on a phone) and your email confirmation from the Museum when you visit. Show both confirmations at the gate to enter. You do not need to stop at the Box Office.
  6. If you are not able to show your Library confirmation on a phone, request a paper copy of your confirmation at the library.

  • Through this reservation system, go to the day you want to visit the museum and reserve your ticket.
  • Note that due to limited capacity, increased demand, and timed ticketing, Aquarium admission is not guaranteed on the particular date of the pass. Therefore, the Aquarium is extending library passes for up to one week after the date of the pass.

Peabody Essex Museum (PEM) is open Thursday through Sunday, 10 AM to 5 PM. Timed tickets are required and can be reserved either online at //pem.org/tickets or by phone, 978-542-1511. A Promo Code is required for discounted tickets. Call the Library, 978-526-7711 to get the Promo Code. Once you have the code, you can schedule and purchase your tickets either online or by calling the museum. 

Online instructions: 

  1. Reserve your time to visit the museum through this program. There are no paper passes. 
  2. Go to https://www.pem.org. On the home page click on VISIT. Or direct access via https://my.pem.org/events. In the PROMO CODE box, type in the code given you by the Library. 
  3. Choose one of the options on the next line; click on the day you want to go to the museum.  
  4. On the Museum Admission page, type the number in your party in the Library Discount (limit 2) field. Click CONTINUE. 
  5. Select entry time; click add to visit. A subtotal will be calculated. Click READY TO CHECKOUT. 
  6. A PEM account is required to complete the transaction. If you already have an account, log in. If you do not, create an account. 
  7. Your payment information is required to complete the transaction.

Call PEM reservation line, 978-542-1511 and give the operator the promo code that you were given by Library staff. You will be assisted in scheduling your visit.

• Pass allows free admission for up to 9 people to the USS Constitution Museum, not the Ship. 

• USS Constitution (the Ship) is owned by the United States Navy and operated separately from the Museum. Visitors 18 and older must present a photo ID. The Ship is not wheelchair accessible. Visit USS Constitution’s website for more information on visiting the Ship.

Zoo New England tickets with Library discount are reserved through zoonewengland.org website. Each pass admits up to 6 people at $9 per adult (age 13 &up) / $6 per child (age 2-12). This pass is sponsored by the Friends of Manchester-by-the-Sea Public Library.

1. Go to //zoonewengland.org and click on VISIT tab; select either Franklin Park Zoo or Stone Zoo tickets.
2. Click BUY TICKETS; selected PURCHASE TIMED TICKETS to open up the online store.
3. On Desktop, select the PROMO CODE tab. Enter LIBRARYPASS in the pop-up box. On mobile devices, select the MENU button and put LIBRARYPASS in the first box.
4. After the code is added, a calendar screen will display. Options for scheduling your visit to Franklin Park or Stone Zoo will appear. Click on the date of your visit and the time.
Once you have made your selection, you will have access to view the discounted Library tickets. You can select a maximum of six tickets. Add your tickets; click NEXT. [Please note if you receive an error message, it is because the date you selected is already taken. You will need to call the Zoo to complete your transaction. 617-541-5466.]
5. At this point, you need to enter the GIFT CODE that is printed on your reserved Zoo New England Library pass ticket.
6. Enter your billing information. Please note that the Zoos currently have ticket fees, which will be added to your purchase total.
7. A confirmation email will be sent to you with a link to print your tickets or save to your phone to display when you arrive at the Zoo.
