There is significantly reduced capacity, and all visitors, with the exception of children under two years, will be required to wear a mask.

The Museum has two set daily time slots, 10:00am - 12:30pm, and 2:00pm - 4:30pm. All ticketing and reservations will be done online. There are a limited number of visits reservations available for each time slot.

All exhibits will be open except for PlaySpace, The New Balance Climb, KidStage, parts of Construction Zone, and parts of Boston Black. The STEAM Lab, Art Lab, and the Japanese House are all open with reduced numbers per program session. Please also note that while the Bubbles and Peep exhibits are open we are not providing smocks. Please bring extra clothes if you feel it is necessary.

To reserve a pass for Historic New England, follow the usual steps in this program, then come in a day before your visit to pick up the passes.

To reserve your visit with the historic site you are interested in, go to HistoricNewEngland.org, select the historic site you are interested in touring and click “Promo Code” at the top of the page; select the tour date and time you want. The promo code to enter is LIBSCH121. This will apply the member discount to the tickets at check out. If you have not logged in to this site before, you will be asked to create an account to complete your purchase. You will still be asked to show the library pass upon arrival for your tour.

The Museum has two set daily time slots, 10:00am - 12:30pm, and 2:00pm - 4:30pm. All ticketing and reservations will be done online. There are a limited number of visits reservations available for each time slot.

All exhibits will be open except for PlaySpace, The New Balance Climb, KidStage, parts of Construction Zone, and parts of Boston Black. To reserve your visit with the historic site you are interested in, go to HistoricNewEngland.org, select the historic site you are interested in touring and click “Promo Code” at the top of the page; select the tour date and time you want. This pass will admit up to 4 people at a 50% discount on tickets to the Museum’s Exhibit Halls. Children under 3 are not included in the count of 4 and are always admitted for free but must have a timed ticket. Facemasks required for ALL individuals as of 8/7/21.

  1. Your Library pass can only be used on the date shown on the confirmation.
  2. YOU MUST ALSO CALL THE MUSEUM TO RESERVE A TIMED TICKET. Call 617-723-2500 (daily, 9am – 5pm).
  3. Please call at least 1-2 days ahead to reserve your timeslot otherwise the Museum might be fully booked.
  4. After you make your timed reservation with the Museum, they will send you an email confirmation with your reservation time.
  5. Please bring both your library pass confirmation (printed or displayed on a phone) and your email confirmation from the Museum when you visit. Show both confirmations at the gate to enter. You do not need to stop at the Box Office.
  6. If you are not able to show your Library confirmation on a phone or print it from home, request a paper copy at the library.

On the library website, please reserve the pass for the date you wish to go to the museum.
