Students in grades K-12 are invited to get homework help from teen volunteers at the Union City Library in our after-school Homework Center program. Help is available for all subject areas. Homework Center is open Monday - Thursdays from mid September through early June. The program is closed on school holidays (as per the New Haven Unified School District Schedule) and on County holidays. 

Homework Center is supervised by an adult coordinator and the program allows high school students to earn Community Service Credit while helping other students. 

A completed registration is REQUIRED before students can attend Homework Center. Registration forms are available at the Reference Desk. Students can sign up for help starting at 3:45 and our volunteers can assist 3 students at a time.

Saturday February 3, 2018 

11:30 a.m. to 2:30 P.m. 

Join us for a three-hour writing workshop in a safe, comfortable setting with novelist Anita Amirrezvani and poet/editor Persis Karim.

Through a series of writing exercises, you will be assisted in getting your story on the page as fiction, non-fiction, or poetry.

This creative writing workshop teaches specific techniques to strengthen your writing and offers supportive feedback.

Help is available for all subject areas. Homework Center is open Monday - Thursdays from mid September through early June. Union City Library is starting a String Ensemble! Weekly practices are on Thursdays, 5:45-6:45 pm. Music will include songs from Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean, Studio Ghilbi, Star Wars, Disney Films and other popular works. Performances will be in Union City Library and Lake Elizabeth. Up to four violinists, two violas, and two cellos will be accepted.

* High school student

* At least 4 years of experience with instrument
* Violinists: know 3rd position and/or higher

Homework Center

Students in grades K-12 are invited to get homework help from teen volunteers at the Union City Library in our after-school Homework Center program. Help is available for all subject areas. Homework Center is open Monday - Thursdays from mid September through early June. The program is closed on school holidays (as per the New Haven Unified School District Schedule) and on County holidays. 

Homework Center is supervised by an adult coordinator and the program allows high school students to earn Community Service Credit while helping other students. 

A completed registration is REQUIRED before students can attend Homework Center. Registration forms are available at the Reference Desk. Students can sign up for help starting at 3:45 and our volunteers can assist 3 students at a time.

Free consultation with a lawyer on the Fourth Tuesday of each month from 6-8 PM.   Please call or come into the library on the day of the program to reserve a seat.

The lawyer handles family, estate, criminal, and immigration law. This program is presented in partnership with the Alameda County Law Library.
