Diabetes Management Workshop

 

The Union City Library is hosting a 6-week Diabetes Self-Management course, led by Alameda County’s Public Health Department.   The series provides a supportive environment for those seeking to understand diabetes or pre-diabetes, and will cover the following:

  • Gaining a better understanding of diabetes and how it is diagnosed.
  • Learning how to eat foods you enjoy while managing your diabetes.
  • Learning how your medications work.
  • Learning the 7 self-care behaviors: healthy eating, physical activity, monitoring blood glucose, taking prescribed medications, solving problems in unusual situations, reducing the risk of complications, coping with stress and emotional issues.

This 6 week program consisting of all Thursdays in April (5, 12, 19, 26) 1-3 pm. and two Fridays in May (4, 11), 2-3:30 pm.  Please plan to attend all 6 classes.

This program is open to all Alameda County Residents 18 or older who have been diagnosed with pre-diabetes or type II diabetes.  To register or find out more information, please call 510-383-5185 or 510-593-7690.

Find out more about your Jewish neighbors at a forum of some of the leaders of our local Jewish community.  Where did the Jews come from?  What do they believe?  Why are they in the news so much?  And most importantly, what is the real origin of the bagel?

Our panelists include:
 
Rabbi Harry Manhoff, spiritual leader of Temple Beth Sholom in San Leandro, lecturer at St. Mary's College in Moraga, and author of A Place in the Tent; Intermarriage and Conservative Judaism.
 
Samuel Klein, Rabbinic student, Hebrew Union College, and currently rabbinic intern at Congregation Shir Ami in Castro Valley.

Find out more about your Jewish neighbors at a forum of some of the leaders of our local Jewish community.  Where did the Jews come from?  What do they believe?  Why are they in the news so much?  And most importantly, what is the real origin of the bagel?

Rabbi Harry Manhoff, spiritual leader of Temple Beth Sholom in San Leandro, lecturer at St. Mary's College in Moraga, and author of A Place in the Tent; Intermarriage and Conservative Judaism.

Diabetes Management Workshop

 

The Union City Library is hosting a 6-week Diabetes Self-Management course, led by Alameda County’s Public Health Department.   The series provides a supportive environment for those seeking to understand diabetes or pre-diabetes, and will cover the following:

  • Gaining a better understanding of diabetes and how it is diagnosed.
  • Learning how to eat foods you enjoy while managing your diabetes.
  • Learning how your medications work.
  • Learning the 7 self-care behaviors: healthy eating, physical activity, monitoring blood glucose, taking prescribed medications, solving problems in unusual situations, reducing the risk of complications, coping with stress and emotional issues.

This 6 week program consisting of all Thursdays in April (5, 12, 19, 26) 1-3 pm. and two Fridays in May (4, 11), 2-3:30 pm.  Please plan to attend all 6 classes.

Diabetes Management Workshop

 

The Union City Library is hosting a 6-week Diabetes Self-Management course, led by Alameda County’s Public Health Department.   The series provides a supportive environment for those seeking to understand diabetes or pre-diabetes, and will cover the following:

  • Gaining a better understanding of diabetes and how it is diagnosed.
  • Learning how to eat foods you enjoy while managing your diabetes.
  • Learning how your medications work.
  • Learning the 7 self-care behaviors: healthy eating, physical activity, monitoring blood glucose, taking prescribed medications, solving problems in unusual situations, reducing the risk of complications, coping with stress and emotional issues.

This 6 week program consisting of all Thursdays in April (5, 12, 19, 26) 1-3 pm. and two Fridays in May (4, 11), 2-3:30 pm.  Please plan to attend all 6 classes.
