Chill Out and Read Winter Reading Club

Winter Reading Club is free and simple! Just stop into the library and pick up a reading record! Every time you read or listen to a book, simply record it by title or tally mark. You will receive raffle tickets for reading and become eligible to win prizes at the end of each month! Teen and adult clubs also available!

Maximize Your Memories: Digital Photos Workshop
6:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Do you have photos on your phone or digital camera and are unsure what you should do with them?  Bring your camera or smart phone to class and we will practice saving photos to a flash drive on the computer, creating folders to keep you organized and more! Registration required. Please bring a USB Drive. If you do not have one, the library will provide one for you.

Bouncing Babies and Books

This storytime, for babies birth-24 months, will include books, songs, musical instruments, scarves, parachutes and bubbles along with baby playtime/socialization following storytime! Meet new caregivers or meet up with old friends while starting your baby on the rewarding road to reading! No registration required.

Creative Hands

Children in grades 1-5 can join a local craft enthusiast and make beautiful, unique projects to keep for yourself or to give as a special gift using paper from the Cricut paper cutting system and other materials/supplies! Registration required.

Tales for 2s and 3s

A storytime specifically geared for toddlers who are 24-36 months old with a caregiver. We will read great stories, sing songs, and have plenty of music, movement, and fun that encourages your toddler’s language and development skills! Caregivers are encouraged to actively engage in activities with their child! No registration required.

Young chefs (preschool-grade 2) will develop an appetite for nutritious foods while being introduced to books that reinforce social and academic skills.  Experience new foods and new books! Registration required. Please refer to our website for cooking supplies needed for each class.

Wednesdays @ 6:30 pm: January 24 (classic waffles), February 21 (mini calzones), March 21 (Shamrock tortilla chips) and April 18 (mini pizzas)

January 24 class (please bring the following items to class): 1 small and 1 medium bowl (with a lid), measuring cups, measuring spoons, and a wooden spoon.  IF you have a waffle iron at home and can bring it in, please do!

Preschool Story Alphabet Explorers

Join our preschool program where children ages 3-5 can explore stories through songs, retellings, STEM activities and a craft.  A new letter of the alphabet will be introduced each week.  No registration required. There will be no storytime on February 16 or March 30.

Teen Canvas and Color Paint Night

Teens in Grades 6-12 can join local artist Michelle and learn how to paint your own canvas 9x12 piece of artwork! Learn techniques using acrylic paint to create a take-home masterpiece ready to hang!  Registration required for each paint night.

Manhood 2.0

The focus of this program will be to help male youths, ages 13-19, learn about healthy relationships, consent, communication, respect, responsibility, sexual health, and their role in stopping violence in their communities and among their peers.  This program is funded by the Allegheny County Department of Human Services and facilitated by the Division of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine from Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, UPMC.  All meetings will be held at the library, and food will be provided.  For further information and to register, please contact Justin Macak at 412-580-7449 or Justin.Macak@chp.edu.

Monday Morning Moms & Dads
10:30 AM - 11:30 AM

Don’t go stir-crazy this winter! Join our Monday morning caregiver/child playgroup for children birth-3 years! We will meet once a month, participate in a take-home art project along with a lot of play time with our new rice/water table, as well as fun learning, building and educational toys.  It’s a great way to socialize, meet new caregivers and for your child to meet new friends! No registration required.

Teen SAT Study Group (January 29 weekly through March 5)
6:30 PM - 8:00 PM

Junior or Senior high school students can gather once a week for six weeks for a small SAT study group led by a current Baldwin High School senior highly experienced in SAT study and technique.  Skills taught will include strengthening math and reading abilities, learning how to approach the test and developing time management skills.  Each study session will conclude with a practice test.  This group is limited to six students and is on a first-come, first-served basis.  Please bring your own laptop/device if possible.  Registration required (register once for all 6 sessions).

*This study group is to help prepare for the March 10 SATs and to improve your score!
