Our Winter Reading Program AND our WQED Inquire Within Kickoff is here!! We are thrilled to announce our partnership with WQED Inquire Within through the generosity of Gateway Health!
Children and teens can add fun to the cold winter months by joining our Winter Reading Program! Just follow the simple steps below!
1) REGISTER ONLINE, then visit our library via curbside pickup* for a Winter Reading Kit (reading logs, activity sheets, winter bingo, winter activity book and more)!
2) READ or LISTEN to books, audiobooks, Wonderbooks, graphic novels, board books, early readers, picture books, mysteries, fiction, nonfiction, romance or ask us for suggestions! We are also happy to make you a book bundle to go!
3) ENTER TO WIN as listed below:
One reading log can be submitted for one prize entry (via curbside dropoff or via email) for every:
- 10 books read (pre-readers)
- 5 books read (early readers)
- 3 books read (readers)
- 1 book read (tweens/teens)
Each submitted reading log is eligible to win monthly prizes made available through our WQED Inquire Within partnership and through the genersity of Gateway Health!
* Winter Reading Kit pickup begins Monday, January 18 and will continue daily during operating hours M-TH 10:00 am-6:00 pm and F 10:00 am-3:00 pm.

Let's start each week having some fun! Our new program will have you singing and dancing as we present music and dance videos to keep you moving and shaking. Enjoy a new video each Monday.
We are bringing our annual Picture Book Children's Choice event to your child! We will read one book each month (October through February) on our YouTube channel or Facebook page, along with a related activity. In March 2021, everyone will have the opportunity to let their voice be heard by voting for their favorite book from the five selected titles! No registration required!
This year's book titles include Because, Big Boys Cry, The Hundred-Year Barn, Lubna and Pebble and When Grandma Gives You A Lemon Tree.

Every Tuesday, we will highlight a few new titles on our Facebook page, which will be linked to our Catalog for you to place on hold.
We are on the road to helping your child read 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten! Each month, you can stop by the library (via curbside pickup) and pick up a tote bag filled with everything you need to get started on your child's road to reading! Then join us on Facebook as you use the items contained in the tote bag to follow along with this early literacy program! One book, one rhyme, one song, one craft and one activity all to help your child become a life-long reader! Please register individually for each program to reserve a tote bag for pickup!
Items contained in tote bag: 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten folder/supplies, parent guide, FREE book, laminated literacy card, craft, musical instrument, activity sheet and crayons

Welcome to our new Winter program featuring a different, exciting peek at the world of birdwatching. These worldwide videos are filled with amazing cultures and hundreds of different species of our feathered friends.
Allegheny County Parks will present a Winter Animals program specifically for elementary-aged Homeschool students, but everyone is invited to register and join in!
About the program: Local wildlife survives our cold and snowy winters by either moving away, sleeping in, or toughing it out. Discover some of the amazing adaptations that allow animals to survive through the winter.
This program will be available on our Baldwin Library Kids and Teens page and on our YouTube channel.

Boardgames are a great family activity! However, learning a new boardgame can be intimidating. We will teach you how to play a new game that is available to borrow through the library. Each session will be a new game.
Baldwin Borough Public Library’s Board of Trustees is composed of seven citizens of the community, appointed by Baldwin Borough Council.
The Board meets monthly at 7pm on the third Thursday of each month at the Library and all meetings are open to the public.

Want to find out 'who dunnit"? We always have a great time, trying to solve mysteries! This month we're reading "Woman in the Window" by A. J. Flynn. Please register and we'll send you an email with a link to the Zoom program.
Teens (grades 6-12) can stop by the library (in library or curbside) to pick up a take-and-make teen craft kit. Please register for each session.
Thursday, January 28 at 6:30 pm: Crystal Snowflakes (pick up craft kit beginning January 25)
Thursday, February 25 at 6:30 pm: (pick up craft kit beginning February 22)
Thursday, March 25 at 6:30 pm: (pick up craft kit beginning March 22)
Teens (grades 6-12) can join local artist Michelle via Zoom Video to paint a beautiful, artistic creation with step-by-step instructions. Simply register, and a Zoom link will be emailed prior to the program.
Fridays at 6:30 pm: January 29 and March 26
January 29 project: Embroidered Canvas - all supplies will be provided and will be available for curbside pickup beginning Monday, January 25. Our hours of operation are M-TH 10-6 and F 10-3.
