This summer, over 30 libraries across Allegheny County have collaborated together to present digital summer reading programs. The Baldwin Borough Public Library's annual summer reading program for children, teens and adults is one of the many ways the library works to create a community of readers and library users. Through fun challenges, readers of any age can earn virtual badges and virtual raffle tickets to have chances to win end-of-summer gift cards! Our summer reading program begins June 15 and runs through August 7.
There are several ways to register for Summer Reading:
- Register, log reading, and earn badges and raffle tickets all online through Beanstack beginning Monday, June 15!
- Register by downloading the Beanstack Tracker app in Google Play or Apple!
- Register by calling our library 412-885-2255 beginning Monday, June 15!
- You can also download a reading log for kids or for teens, then go online, download the app, or call us to register...all beginning June 15!
A huge thank you to the Kiwanis Club of Baldwin for their generous sponsorship of our 2020 Summer Reading Program.

Let's start the week off with a gentle walk in South Park. Please meet in the large, paved parking lot on Corrigan Drive, across the street from the round Horse Barn. We will practice social distancing and please register so I know that I'll have someone to walk with!

Although we cannot be together to perform a musical this summer, join us for Teen Fundamentals of Performance (geared for students entering grades 6-12)! Using the digital platform, Zoom, we will explore questions about theater with Theater Director Jaycee Revo:
- What makes a theater performance good?
- What are the basics of staging?
- How do you as an actor convey emotion?
- What are some things we can do to captivate an audience?
We will also explore writing for the stage:
- What is dialogue?
- What is a monologue?
We will cover these concepts in performance, but also learn how to write them! The final event will be a virtual showcase of teens’ theatrical writing! Let’s have fun exploring performance together!
**You do not need to sign up for each individual session within this series. Registering once will register you for the 8-week session (you do not need to attend every session if unable)** A Zoom link will be sent to you prior to each session.
A huge thank you to Baldwin Friends of the Theater Arts for their generous funding of this program.
This online storytime, geared to children ages birth-3, will include one book, songs, rhymes, musical instruments, scarves and bubbles along with early literacy tips for parents! Meet us on our Facebook page every Tuesday at 10:30 am and sing along with us!
Join us every Tuesday at 2:00 on our YouTube channel while we read the first two chapters from a book we would love to recommend for summer (or anytime) reading! While the program is geared to elementary-aged children, all are invited to tune in! Videos will be saved, so if you can't tune in today, tune in any time!
