This story follows the title character’s journey from disgrace after abandoning his ship in a storm, to his seeking redemption on a remote, Colonial Era island off the coast of Southeast Asia. This is an IN-PERSON PROGRAM - Facilitator: Christopher Woods. 

Directed by John Ford and Mervyn LeRoy, this comedy/drama stars Henry Fonda,James Cagney, and Jack Lemmon (Oscar for Best Supporting Actor). Fonda plays a disenchanted naval officer on a backwater cargo ship in the Pacific Ocean during WWII. He is pitted against the ship’s captain, played by Cagney, who is a mean spirited and vindictive martinet who only cares about his own ambitions. Tensions arise, with comic intensity, as Roberts and the crew try to co-exist under the tyrannical captain’s harsh command.
