Mary Rowlandson: Indian Captive
7:00 PM - 8:15 PM

virginia wolf

Sponsored by the Friends of the Library

Join us for an evening of history and drama! We're pleased to welcome back Virginia Wolf, an outstanding actress who brings to life "the sung and unsung" heroines of history. Her past performances at the Library include the very well-received "Panic In Connecticut" and  "Katy Leary and Mark Twain." This evening's performance takes us on the trail with a brave woman abducted from her hometown of Lancaster, MA, by the Narragansett Indians during the King Philip War. After three months of captivity, she was traded back and reunited with her family. In 1682, with the help of Reverend Increase Mather, she wrote "Sovereign Goodness of God," considered the first Captivity Narrative.

Audiences appreciate Ms. Wolf's attention to historical accuracy combined with compassion for her subjects. This performance is for adults and young adults; it is not intended for children.

Registration is required and will begin soon.

A Song of the Seasons
7:00 PM - 8:00 PM

rick spencer

Sponsored by the Friends of the Library

We welcome back Rick Spencer for another Historical Music Program! The promise of Spring, the warmth of the long days of Summer, the Autumn harvest and the deep, dark Winter have all been described eloquently in music. The allegorical song of the seasons of human life is a long-standing tradition, as well. This program presents some of the best of both.

Registration required.
