Living History Day Celebration
10:30 AM - 12:30 PM

The Bethel Historical Society is holding an all-day celebration of our Town's history, and the Bethel Public Library is pleased to be hosting their special two-part program...

LIVE VOCAL PERFORMANCE! At 10:30 am, Gretchen Tucker, a classically trained soprano with 20 years of choral experience and 18 years of solo experience will perform a program of songs from the Revolutionary War era. Ms. Tucker sings in a number of styles such as vintage/historical, patriotic, and 18th century, and in several different languages.  Her performance for Living History Day will include the singing performance as well as a talk about the pieces’ history and composer and the vocal technique. If the audience has requests, she will do her best to include them. Ms. Tucker also has a book of folk songs, patriotic songs, sea shanties, religious works, and opera from the time period.

HISTORY TALK! Immediately following the vocal performance, Bethel Town Historian Patrick Tierney Wild, author of Images of America - Bethel and Historic Tales of Bethel, will present "Revolutionary Bethel," a program highlighting events that took place in and around Bethel during the years of the American Revolution. Attendees will learn little-known facts and get a look at seldom-seen images, maps, and documents that help to tell the tale of how Bethelites took part in the war that made a nation. The program is estimated to run for approximately one hour, and Mr. Wild will make himself available for questions afterwards.

Registration is required.

College Financial Planning
6:30 PM - 7:45 PM

This seminar will cover critical information not covered during high school financial aid nights, including:

Opportunities available for your student to attend an expensive private university for less than a state school.

Selecting colleges that will give you the best financial aid packages – more FREE money and less loans.

Locating and applying for every “need-based” scholarship, grant, and low-interest loan that your student may be eligible for!

Paying for college without relying on 529 plans, expensive private student loans or raiding your retirement accounts

How to simplify the process and making sure you do all the right things at the right time.

Which assets are taken into consideration when the U.S. Department of Education calculates your Expected Family Contribution (EFC).

The biggest mistakes parents can make that cause them to overpay for college…and how to avoid them. The FAFSA form and all the other information you need to understand in order to maximize the amount of financial aid you are eligible to receive! Even if your family is not eligible for need-based aid, we will cover the best strategies on how to pay for college in the most cost efficient basis without it putting a strain on the rest of your finances.

Registration required and will begin soon.
