GROWING UP IN THE REAL MISTER ROGERS’ NEIGHBORHOOD: AUTHOR TALK
7:00 PM

Presented by author Chris Rodell

In a world that cries out for civility and healing, there’s now an engaging book about Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood by an author who actually lives there.

Chris Rodell is releasing, "Growing Up in the REAL Mister Rogers' Neighborhood: Life Lessons from the Heart of Latrobe, Pennsylvania.” Governor Tom Ridge says in the “REAL” foreword: “Rodell writes about Latrobe the way Sinatra sings about New York, unflinching about the gritty realities, but with abiding affection and relentless positivity about the future.”

Chris Rodell is the author of "Arnold Palmer: Homespun Stories Of The King,” the quirky book about his oddball friendship with one of the planet’s most popular and beloved men. His books include “Use All The Crayons! The Colorful Guide To Simple Human Happiness,” and “The Last Baby Boomer: The Story of the Ultimate Ghoul Pool,” a novel that was bestowed the 2017 TINARA Award for Outstanding Satire.

STORIES UNTOLD: ORAL HISTORIES OF THE WIVES OF VIETNAM SERVICMEN
11:00 AM

Presented by Charlotte McDaniel

As a member of a Gold Star family, Charlotte McDaniel has long understood the challenges of a loved one who, sadly, did not return from the Vietnam War. As a retired professor from Emory University, Atlanta, GA., with former appointments at Yale University, Univ. of Pittsburgh Medical Center, plus several Fulbright appointments, this war experience sparked interest in these oral histories. Representing interviews with more than thirty (30) wives across all branches of the military, it presents a robust sample of wives from that era and is her first non-fiction work for a more general audience. McDaniel will discuss her newly published book at this event, and at the conclusion will entertain comments and questions from attendees. This book has recently been selected for presentation at the nationally-acclaimed Festival of the Book, held in Charlottesville, VA., annually in March (18-22, 2020). Stories Untold is the only book about women (Wives) from the Vietnam War era.
