Yoga for the Seasons - Slowing Down, a Practice for Winter

Are you feeling spacey, revved-up and stressed? Are you having trouble settling down? Are you experiencing some sleeplessness? If so, then join us for weekly yoga. These classes combine postures, breathing exercises, and relaxation techniques to help you feel warm and soothed. The sequence is designed to focus on strengthening and lengthening the muscles in the hips, legs and feet; areas that when warmed by movement help you to feel more clear-headed, grounded and peaceful. Classes are 70 minutes long and students new to yoga are welcome. Carol, the instructor, is a long-time yoga practitioner and a 200-hour Kripalu* yoga teacher.

Please wear loose-fitting clothing, bring your own yoga mat, 2 blocks and a strap. Additionally, a blanket is nice to bring, especially if you have issues with the knees.

Please arrive 10 minutes early to sign a waiver if you are new to class.

Space is limited so please register. You must register for each class separately in the series.

*Visit www.kripalu.org for more information on this style of yoga.

Move into Balance - Yoga for the Lower Body

Do you know that if we stretch the same muscles over and over, sit too much or we’re not as active as we’d like to be, the muscles in the front of the lower body are underutilized and can cause us pain? The poses you’ll practice in this session aim to help reduce stiffness, tightness, and pain in the lower back, hips, legs, knees, and feet by rebalancing the muscles. In addition to the postures, each class includes movements to warm the spine and joints, breath practices, relaxation techniques and meditation. Participants are encouraged to attend all 6 classes in the session in order to give the body time to respond and feel improvement. The instructor, Carol, a long time yoga practitioner and a certified 200 hour Kripalu* Yoga teacher, will demonstrate postures and offer modifications to help you achieve a better result.

Classes are 1 hour and 15 minutes long and students new to yoga are welcome. Please wear loose-fitting clothing, bring your own yoga mat and 2 blocks and a yoga strap. Additional yoga props such as yoga blankets, bolsters or pillows can be helpful but are optional.

Space is limited so registration is necessary. You must register for each class separately in the series.

*Visit www.kripalu.org for more information about the Kripalu style of yoga.

Alphabits with Mr. Steve (Kind of)

This will be the only "in-person" option for Alphabits at this time. Miss Amanda will be there with name tags, crafts, homework sheets, and stickers...and Mr. Steve will be on the big screen all the way from South Carolina (prerecorded). It's a way to continue Alphabits together. Please sign up if you plan on attending this class.

You are also welcome to do Alphabits virtually from home! Pick up your crafts at the library and subscribe to Mr. Steve's YouTube channel. Alphabits videos will be posted there weekly.

Yoga for the Seasons - Slowing Down, a Practice for Winter

Are you feeling spacey, revved-up and stressed? Are you having trouble settling down? Are you experiencing some sleeplessness? If so, then join us for weekly yoga.

Open for Business Grant Kick-Off Event

Turning Your Passion into Your Profession with Jeff Belanger!

The Bellingham Library has been awarded a grant to assist Bellingham area businesses with meeting the challenges of the 21st century by offering resources, courses, and business counseling from experts on the topics the business community identifies as important to their success. This Kick-Off Event will feature Jeff Belanger speaking about how to turn your passion into your business.

Jeff Belanger is an author, podcaster, storyteller, adventurer, and explorer of the unexplained. He’s turned his passion for chasing legends into his career. He’s the award-winning, Emmy-nominated host, writer, and producer of the New England Legends television series on PBS and Amazon Prime, and is the author of over a dozen books (published in six languages). Jeff has climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa, he’s explored the ruins of Machu Picchu in Peru, he’s searched the catacombs of Paris, France (where he encountered his first ghost), he faced his life-long struggle with basophobia on his birthday by skydiving, and he’s been ghost hunting all over the world from a former TB asylum in Kentucky, to medieval castles in Europe, to an abandoned prison in Australia. Jeff can show you a pathway to turn any passion into your profession.

Registration preferred.

This program is made possible by a federal Institute of Museum & Library Services grant through the Library Services and Technology Act. The grant is administered by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.
