Wyman Village Housing Lottery

~~A private developer, Fox Comm Way, LLC and officials of the Town of Foxborough have collaborated to provide this affordable housing opportunity in Foxborough.  The development is situated on 5.6 acres of land on 8 Community Way in Foxborough and will consist of 20 detached single family homes.

Five (5) of the homes have been designated as affordable.  The initial sales price is $238,600 for the homes and the estimated Homeowners Association fee will be $26 monthly. The homes that will be built will have 3 bedrooms, 1.5 baths and a 1 car garage. Two of the units have a basement and three of the units are SOG, “Slab On Grade”. SOG units will have a utility only basement with bulkhead access. Please note, you do not get to choose the unit you want.  You are simply offered the next available unit when your name comes up on the list, whichever unit it may be.

The Town of Foxborough, located at the intersections of Interstates 95 and 495, is known by its residents as “the Gem of Norfolk County”.  The Emergency 911 System will connect you to both Police and Fire Departments instantly.  The Town provides its own water, and electrical service is with National Grid.  Recycling bins and schedules for your curbside collection are available from the Highway Department on Elm Street.  Even though they pride themselves in their small town image and strong sense of community, Foxboro is also the host of Gillette Stadium which is the home of the New England Patriots and the New England Revolution Soccer Team.  Concerts and other events take place during the warm weather at the stadium.

The affordable Single Family Homes will be sold at the initial sales price of $238,600.  It is estimated that the total monthly cost of your mortgage payment including Principal, Interest, Real Estate Taxes, Private Mortgage Insurance (PMI), Hazard Insurance will be approximate $1,710 for the 3 bedroom homes.  There will be a Home Owners Association fee of $26.00 per month.  This assumes a 30 year fixed rate mortgage at current rates with a 3% down payment.  Your actual down payment can be 3%, of which half (1.5%) must be from the buyers own funds. You cannot rely on this estimated amount, this is only an estimate.  Your actual mortgage payment may be different based on the actual interest rate and other factors.  You should verify your actual mortgage payment with your lender and or accountant.  This monthly mortgage payment is pre-tax and does not include the tax advantage of home ownership.  To determine your net expense post tax you should consult with your accountant or tax advisor.

Strategy Board Game Night

Have a good time and play some strategy board games. Learn, teach and have fun.

We will be playing modern strategy board games that are growing in popularity everywhere. Board gaming is a social pursuit that promotes fun, social interaction, mental challenge with a dose of healthy competition.

You do not need to own any games to take part, group members will bring their own games along for the group to play; this allows people to try many different games to find which ones they enjoy.

There are many different types of games that suit all people and their tastes; these range from short and fast multi-player games to longer, deeper games that require the players to develop strategies to win.

Newcomers are welcome, we will teach people the games and have a wide selection that are suitable for newcomers while still providing a fun and challenging experience.

Ages 16+ please.

The Idea Pit

The mission of The Idea Pit is to encourage critical examination of political beliefs. We provide a forum for people with conflicting viewpoints to challenge, defend, explore, alter, and ultimately understand the roots and consequences of their positions. We encourage participation from all points of the ideological spectrum, regardless of any past interest or involvement in political discourse. The Idea Pit is a spirited, but friendly, environment to engage in substantive dialogue over the issues that most affect us.

Sunday Concert Series presents Stanley & Grimm

Sunday Concert Series presents Stanley & Grimm

he band The duo takes its name from the makers of Nikki’s fiddle and bow, fiddlemaker and inventor of the Stanley steam engine, F.O. Stanley, and Grimm, respectively.

Celtic duo Stanley & Grimm entertain with a celebration of traditional music through old and new interpretations of jigs, reels, and songs played with lively fiddle, guitar, and voice. Fiddler Nikki Engstrom and singer/guitarist Sean Brennan create a musical journey through a bounty of fiddle tunes and ballads of all origins, alongside modern tunes and songs they have composed. Their second CD, Another Round, was awarded the Celtic Radio Music Award for the 2008 Album of the Year, and also took top honors in the “Jigs & Reels” category. Celtic Radio Network describes their music as “emotionally stirring, exhilarating, perfectly splendid!” The infectious fun they have on stage and their intense playing have helped them to become fan favorites on the New England traditional music scene. Their newest CD Stanley and Grimm, Open the Gate is available now.
