Everyone Has A Voice

Featuring Edward Oluokun and Carli Pires with Open Mic featuring you.

Edward Oluokun is a drummer, painter, and author of the Ancient Echoes.  He has performed with musical groups, as well as mounting solo art exhibitions here in the states.  Edward has been an educator here in New England since 2011.  He teaches English at Massasoit Community and Roxbury Community colleges.  He obtained a Master's degree in English from the University of Memphis and a Master of Divinity from Mid-America Baptist Theologoical Seminary.  Edward is an advocate for the Relevance of Mother Tongue in a Diverse Culture.

Carli Pires is a 15-year-old student from Brockton High.  She is new to the poetry scene and writes sentimental and powerful poems with a dash of the student life she lives.  Her journey in life has been the roughest of roads in life with the torment of mental issues, so she puts her stresses into poems to calm the scenery.

This is a free event.

An American Story: Race Amity and Other Tradition

Local filmmaker William H. "Smitty" Smith presents a new perspective to examine "the other tradition" of close cross-racial and cross-cultural friendships and collaborations that serve as the moral counterweights to the tradition of racism in America. This thought-provoking film from the National Center of Race Amity offers a new lens through which we can move together towards our nation's motto of e pluribus unum (of many one) by emulatiing the inspiring and courageous friendships in American history.
