Museum of Bad Art: In the Nood - Naked People in the Museum!

For over 20 years, MOBA has collected art too bad to be ignored. As in most art collections, nude paintings are included. We’ll compare some of our nudes to the classics, and sometimes we’ll wonder if the artist has ever seen a naked human.

This is a Zoom presentation. Please email tahearn@cobma.us for the Meeting ID and passcode.

Virtual Book Club -Hercule Poirot's Christmas by Agatha Christie

Our next title will deal with Christmas, murder and mystery. The last two go hand in hand when you throw in Agatha Christie.  Hercule Poirot's Christmas: : a Hercule Poirot Mystery  by Agatha Christie will be the center of discussion as we reach the holiday season of a wild, wild year 2020. We are optimistic that  2021 will be a year that is more serene and that somewhere down that road we can return to what once was in terms of our "normal lives" before this worldwide pandemic that is going on.

Here is a brief description of the book:

"Christmas Eve, and the Lee family’s reunion is shattered by a deafening crash of furniture and a high-pitched wailing scream. Upstairs, the tyrannical Simeon Lee lies dead in a pool of blood, his throat slashed. When Hercule Poirot offers to assist, he finds an atmosphere not of mourning but of mutual suspicion. It seems everyone had their own reason to hate the old man. . . ."

It's A Wonderful Lecture

Dustin Pari has done it again! It’s a Wonderful Lecture is a presentation that has truly resonated on a deep level with so many. Taking a look at the beloved classic It’s a Wonderful Life, Dustin uses quotes, scenes, and characters from the movie as he weaves a tale of commonality and humanity that brings us all together in love, kindness, and harmony. Hear the tale and feel the struggle of George Bailey, because his issues are our issues. We all walk through this human experience together, feeling the ripple of the lives of those around us.

This lecture will be conducted via Zoom. Contact Thomas Ahearn at tahearn@cobma.us for the Meeting ID and passcode.

Author Talk: Jeff Benedict

Please join seven libraries in welcoming Jeff Benedict to talk about his instant bestseller on the New England Patriots, "The Dynasty."

It’s easy to forget that the New England Patriots were once the laughingstock of the NFL, a nearly bankrupt team that had never won a championship and was on the brink of moving to St. Louis. Everything changed in 1994, when Robert Kraft acquired the franchise and soon brought on board head coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady. Since then, the Patriots have become a juggernaut, making ten trips to the Super Bowl, winning six of them, and emerging as one of the most valuable sports franchises in the world. Today, the team’s twenty-year reign atop the NFL stands as the longest in league history. How was the Patriots dynasty built? And how did it last for two decades? In "The Dynasty", acclaimed journalist Jeff Benedict provides richly reported answers in a sweeping account based on exclusive interviews with more than 200 insiders, as well as never-before-seen recordings, documents, and electronic communications.

Jeff Benedict is the bestselling author of sixteen non-fiction books, including the #1 New York Times bestseller "Tiger Woods", with Armen Keteyian. His latest book, "The Dynasty", is the definitive inside story of the New England Patriots dynasty and was published in September 2020. He has also been a special-features writer for Sports Illustrated and the Los Angeles Times, an this essays have appeared in the New York Times. Benedict's stories have been the basis of segments on 60 Minutes, CBS Sunday Morning, HBO Real Sports, Discovery Channel, Good Morning America, 48 Hours, NFL Network, NPR, and ESPN’s Outside the Lines. He is also a television and film producer.

This program is brought to you in collaboration by the Watertown Free Public Library, The Belmont Public Library, The Brockton Public Library, The Cary Library, Lexington, Oceanside Library, Medford Public Library, and Weston Public Library.
