I Promoted Myself

Sarah Breedlove (12/23/1867 – 5/25/1919), also known as Madam C. J. Walker, was an African American entrepreneur, philanthropist, and a political and social activist.  Walker made her fortune by developing and marketing a line of beauty and hair products for black women through Madame C.J. Walker Manufacturing Company

More than a history lesson, her rise to fame offers inspiration to women – regardless of race – on how to succeed against all odds. Her life is one of the great success stories of American History.

Join Gwendolyn Quezaire-Presutti as she brings this integral portrait of this historic person to life.

Gwendolyn Quezaire-Presutti’s portrayal of historical women introduces untapped history, drawing on a wide array of primary historical resources. For the past 20 years Gwendolyn has engaged audiences with performances giving voice to real life accounts, struggles, self-determination and triumphs of women she portrays.

Registration is required.  Please contact the Blackstone Public Library at 508-883-1931 for more information.
