Graphic Novel Book Club @ Central
6:30 PM - 7:30 PM

Through the Woods by Emily CarrollThis month the Graphic Novel Book Club will read and discuss Through the Woods by Emily Carroll. In this debut collection, Carroll crafts five unsettling tales inspired by common folkloric themes -- from wolves in the woods to peculiar visitors to dark possessions. She posits that "the worst kind of monster was the burrowing kind. The sort that crawled into you and made a home there," and that's exactly what Carroll accomplishes, burrowing inside the reader's mind and twisting what should be safe into something startlingly strange. Swirling, chaotic, hand-lettered, and ink-smudged illustrations bring each grisly story to life.

Are you interested in genealogy and family history? Come join others interested in genealogy for our new monthly genealogy group and learn about the resources to help you right at our library.  Whether you are a beginner or an experienced researcher, you will find ideas and and helpful tips at each meeting. Subsequent monthly sessions will revolve around a topic suggested by the group, and will consist of a brief talk by an experienced genealogist, and then an informal discussion of that topic by participants. The group will meet on the fourth Monday of every month. Join us for an interesting evening!

Sabrina by Nick DrnasoThis month the Graphic Novel Book Club will read and discuss Sabrina by Nick Drnaso. When Sabrina disappears, an airman in the U.S. Air Force is drawn into a web of suppositions, wild theories, and outright lies. Sabrina depicts a modern world devoid of personal interaction and responsibility, where relationships are stripped of intimacy through glowing computer screens. An indictment of our modern state, Drnaso contemplates the dangers of a fake news climate.
