Red Cross BLS Basic Life Support - Healthcare Providers class

Breathing new life into resuscitation education, Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) is designed to train professionals to respond to cardiac and breathing emergencies for adult, child, and infant victims. Consistent with the 2015 AHA Guidelines for CPR/ECC, BLS is the foundational CPR/AED program typically required for healthcare providers and public safety professionals. Through the use of lecture, skills demonstration and practice, case-based emergency response scenarios, and reflection and debriefing activities with a focus on team-based response, BLS builds the key critical thinking, problem solving, and team dynamic skills that are needed to drive better patient outcomes. Upon successful completion of the course, learners will receive a 2-year “Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers” digital certificate with anytime, anywhere access to certificate and training history. This is a blended learning class. All online components must be completed prior to attending the in person skill session. Please bring your certificate of completion to class. (course description per American Red Cross www.RedCross.org)

Death Cafe

~~What is a “Death Café” and why talk about Death?
Death is a normal part of life; it is not a failure to be avoided or hidden. At a Death Café people, often strangers, gather in an open, respectful place to eat dessert, drink coffee and to discuss whatever they wish on dying and death.  Death Café is part of a global movement whose main objective is to increase awareness of death while helping people make the most of the rest of their lives.  A Death Cafe is a group-directed discussion of death with no agenda, objectives or themes – no products or services are sold or endorsed. It is a discussion group rather than a grief support or counseling session.
Check out http://deathcafe.com for more detailed information about Death Cafés.

Fun Friday Storytime

Friday Storytime is held on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th Fridays of the month.  4th Fridays we have our Music and Movement program.  Friday Storytime features songs, rhymes, flannel activities, puppets, and stories, with an emphasis on helping children to develop the pre-literacy skills they will need to be ready to learn to read when they go to school.  All ages (who are able to remain seated during stories) are welcome.  Great for grandparents to attend with the grandkids!  No registration necessary.
