This 45-minute interactive program is part of the 2018 Summer Reading Program “LIBRARIES ROCK!” The 2018 Summer Reading Program is made possible through funding from the Friends of the Cumberland Public Library, the Rhode Island Office of Library and Information Services and the Institute of Museum and Library Services.

This program is for children ages 4-12.  Tickets will be available in the Children’s Room starting Monday, July 9, 2018 with a nominal fee of 50¢ for individual admission.

Music at the Monastery: The Strumdawgs

The Library is hosting its fourth summer series of Music at the Monastery concerts providing a free opportunity to hear some great local bands and musicians on the front lawn between the Library and the Porter’s Lodge on the Monastery Grounds.  The second concert will be by The Strumdawgs on Thursday, July 19 at 6:30 pm.

The Strumdawgs are an acoustic rock band that plays great music from the 1970s through today. The band features Joe Flori on drums, Gene Washington on bass and vocals, and John Duggan on guitar and vocals. Washington has been playing in clubs since the 1970s.  He formerly played with Duggan as part of the Nitefles and is also a member of the Noyz.  Flori also plays with the Smokin’ Toads.  Check them out on their website at https://www.thestrumdawgs.com.

The final concert of the series, which will feature the Jesse Liam Band in its fourth concert at the monastery, will take place on August 16.

Rhythm for Little Rascals

The Children’s Room welcomes Rick’s Musical Instruments for a new program called Rhythm for Little Rascals.  Singing, dancing, instruments and more!  This fun program helps children develop a voice and rhythm through sing-a-longs and provides the opportunity to touch various instruments. Rhythm for Little Rascals takes place on three Tuesdays: July 10, July 24 and August 7 from 10:00-11:00 am. This program is for children ages 1 to 5 years old.  Please note: an adult must accompany the child. Online registration for Rhythm for Little Rascals opens on July 10, 2018 at 11:00 am for the second session.

The Children’s Room welcomes Rick’s Musical Instruments for a new program called Rhythm for Little Rascals.  Singing, dancing, instruments and more!  This fun program helps children develop a voice and rhythm through sing-a-longs and provides the opportunity to touch various instruments. Rhythm for Little Rascals takes place on three Tuesdays: July 10, July 24 and August 7 from 10:00-11:00 am. This program is for children ages 1 to 5 years old.  Please note: an adult must accompany the child. Online registration for Rhythm for Little Rascals opens on July 10, 2018 at 11:00 am for the second session.

Children will hear a story and be hands-on scientists.  You must register for each Science Hour individually.   

There will be five Science Hours with an interesting scientific theme each week.

This 45-minute interactive program is fun as well as informative and is part of the 2018 Summer Reading Program “LIBRARIES ROCK!” The 2018 Summer Reading Program is made possible through funding from the Friends of the Cumberland Public Library, the Rhode Island Office of Library and Information Services and the Institute of Museum and Library Services.

This program is for children ages 4-12.  Tickets will be available in the Children’s Room starting Monday, July 23, 201 with a nominal fee of 50¢ for individual admission.

Rhythm for Little Rascals takes place on three Tuesdays: July 10, July 24 and August 7 from 10:00-11:00 am. This program is for children ages 1 to 5 years old.  Please note: an adult must accompany the child.  Online registration for the third session opens on July 24, 2018 at 11:00 am.

Image result for rabbitsThe Children’s Room welcomes Michelle Skorupski and her bunnies for an informational program on rabbit care on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 10:00 a.m.  Children will hear a rabbit related story then be introduced to how to care for a rabbit and what is required to have a pet rabbit.  Please be aware that if your child has an allergy to rabbit fur or hay there will be live rabbit to pet following the informational session.

This 45-minute interactive program is part of the 2018 Summer Reading Program “Libraries Rock”

This program is for children ages 6-12.  Online registration for this program will begin on Monday, July 30, 2018.

Get creative, start crafting!  Build imaginative worlds and battle nocturnal creatures at Minecraft Club.  Novice or expert, join the club and play with your friends in our very own world.  Each club consists mainly of free play.  Sometimes there are group activities, challenges, and/or MineCrafts.  We provide laptops, accounts, and a secure server environment in which to explore and create!  Registration for both the Wednesday and Thursday Minecraft programs open the third Thursday of each month at 7:30pm.  This program is for children ENTERING grades 2-5.
