Author Talk Ken Haigh

The Collingwood Public Library has joined literary forces with nine other libraries (Wasaga, Barrie, Essa, Innisfil, Ramara, Penetanguishene, Springwater Clearview and New Tecumseth) to offer a 2021 virtual author talk series. This month Collingwood Public Library features a discussion with Ken Haigh about his book he is launching On Foot to Canterbury A Son’s Pilgrimage. Setting off on foot from Winchester, Ken Haigh hikes across southern England, retracing one of the traditional routes that medieval pilgrims followed to the shrine of Saint Thomas Becket at Canterbury Cathedral. Walking in honour of his father, a staunch Anglican who passed away before they could begin their trip together, Haigh wonders: Is there a place in the modern secular world for pilgrimage? On his journey, he sorts through his own spiritual aimlessness while crossing paths with writers like Anthony Trollope, John Keats, Jane Austen, Jonathan Swift, Charles Dickens, and, of course, Geoffrey Chaucer. On Foot to Canterbury is part travelogue, part memoir, part literary history, and all heart.

All libraries welcome.  Spaces are limited.

To register: https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJ0pd-uvrDsqHdIGTJduE7NJ3ryaviSV1fUe

To purchase a signed copy of Ken Haigh's book contact: Jessica's Book Nook

http://www.jessicas.ca

(Note: that you will need to indicate your "home library" as Collingwood Public Library upon registration and will receive the Zoom link immediately.  A reminder email will be sent closer to the event with the link sent a second time).
