GRADE 3 BOOK CLUB

Our selection this month is "Upside Down Magic" by Lauren Myracle.  At the Dunwiddle Magic School, there's a "special" class for students who make different and unpredictable magic.  For example, instead of changing into a dragon or kitten, Nory changes into both at the same time - becoming a dritten!  Andres floats in the air.  "It's never easy when your magic goes wonky"!  Registration is required.  Pick up a copy of this book at the front desk.  Read it at home.  At the meeting, we'll talk about the story, have a snack, and learn some magic tricks.

GRADE 4 & 5 BOOK CLUB

This month's selection is "The Snow Spider" by Jenny Nimmo.  Copies of the book are available at the circulation desk.  This story takes place in the country of Wales which borders on England.  The language spoken is Welsh.  The flag has a red dragon on it.  Wales is an ancient land dating back to the days of cavemen.  It is also mysterious and filled with superstitions and legends.  A boy named Gwyn (pronounced Gwin), lives there in today's world.  His grandmother, Nain, (pronounced "Nine") gives him 5 strange presents for his birthday and says it's time for him to find out if he is a magician like some of his ancesters.  One night a snow spider appears and spins a spooky web of magic.

Read the book at home.  We'll talk about it at the meeting, make a craft and have a snack.  Parents - please inform Penny of any food allergies well before the meeting.

Registration is required.
