1000 Books Before Kindergarten Program
Strive to share 1000 books with your child before they enter Kindergarten in this reading incentive program. Keep track & check in with us to earn prizes. Visit the library to register and receive your welcome kit!
Story Trail: April 12th - November 30th.
Family hikers are welcome to explore our story trail starting April 12th through the end of November. Hike the 1/2 mile loop at the East Granby Land Trust's Ian Clark Preserve on Kimberly Road in East Granby, CT and enjoy a children's story.
This story trail helps build children’s interest in reading, while encouraging healthy outdoor activity for children and their families. The Story Trail is brought to you by the East Granby Public Library and The East Granby Land Trust.
Stories will be updated with the seasons, offering a new experience for repeat visitors.
Stories to be displayed:
- Blue Chicken, by Connecticut author, Deborah Freedman (Currently on display)
- Trio: The Tale of the Three-Legged Cat, by Connecticut author, Andrea Wisnewski
- TBD
- An original story to be written and illustrated by the East Granby Public Library's child patrons. Stay tuned for children writer's workshop details!
Story Trail visitors can earn chances to win a prize each time they visit by entering the raffle at the end of the trail. Winners will be drawn monthly and will win a gift card or prize from one of these local businesses:

Join the Wonderland Works Company LLC for an in-person event with Anna, Elsa, & Kritoff! These beloved FROZEN characters will lead a storytime, sing-a-long, and dance party as well as take time to talk to all the kids!
Bring your own lawn chairs or blanket to sit upon. All participants must wear a mask and practice social distancing.
Due to COVID restrictions we are asking you to limit the number of extra people with your group to 1 adult.
Note: If the weather does not allow us to have this event outdoors, the event may be postponed or moved indoors. Inside location TBD. If held inside, due to limited space, caregivers may be asked to wait outside on the grounds until the conclusion of the program. Caregivers will be called into the room one at a time to take pictures of their child with the Frozen characters at the end of the program. Thank you for your cooperation in helping maintain social distance during this time.
