Archaeologist Craig Chartier of the Plymouth Archaeological Rediscovery Project will offer updates and insights into the Nickerson Family Association excavation project which has revealed William and Anne Nickerson's c.1664 homestead and its outbuildings as well as many fascinating artifacts that have given a window into the Nickersons' lives as pioneers in what became Chatham. Craig will talk about the final two-month dig of 2019 and also what he hopes to accomplish through the laboratory tests for which NFA have applied for a $31,000 CPA grant. The tests will reveal information on the local flora and tell us more about the entire environment that the Nickerson’s lived in. During the 2019 season the team learned more about William Nickerson's rare blacksmithing operation as well as finished delineating the house and palisade. Registration is required. Program will be via Zoom.
